Crops of Mint
Our Harvest this Year
This year we grew lots of food on our small communal garden plot. The participants and food bank charity benefited from these crops.
– 30 delicious cobs of corn – 30 servings of swiss chard – 30 servings of potatoes – 20 servings of mint tea – 30 servings of green beans – 12 servings of beets
Plentiful Organic Harvest
We also enjoyed harvest of amazing tomatoes, lettuce, peas, herbs, and grapes. Our healthy grape vines look ready to produce next year. We want to grow more food for more participants. This requires more land zoned suitable for agriculture.
Plans
Participants learn gardening skills in a safe and fun environment without risk. Plants remaining after the harvest get composted to be a resource for the next crops. Our communal gardens offers a unique option for adults and children to learn where food comes from, not just from stores. Our communal garden offers a manageable way for people to obtain a necessity, great food.
We look forward to the time when resources are gathered so our drop in communal garden is ready. The Economic Abundance Society members aim to continue coordinating ways for you, your friends and family to grow and harvest food in a fun supportive environment. We request your help in persuading government decision makers to permit the use of more land for communal gardens. Will you help us find suitable zoned communal garden locations? A location that we would like for a communal garden is on the south west of the fire hall and east of the stairs on Pinewood Avenue, Coquitlam, BC.
This land might successfully grow food like potatoes and vegetables.
Concepts
At a future City Point Earning Program, you may add to your abundance by earning points at a City Garden Point. One point will have the spending power of one dollar. Your earned points will be redeemable for harvested crops or other inventory. That is, at a future City Point Garden, you will be welcome to earn non-monetary income to spend on the harvest. This is a way to lessen stress by growing your skills while taking part in producing amazing organic food.
Expansion Idea
When suitably zoned land is accessible and the time is right, at our established communal gardens, we aim to add a point system where you may earn points by growing food and spend them on a reasonable amount of the harvested crops. At these City Point Earning Programs, you will be able to drop-in and earn point income for food and also supplies. These City Point Gardens will offer an optional system where you can be rewarded for your efforts.

Future Plans
Maybe someday we will have access to other suitably government zoned land where we can produce other food sources – chickens, eggs, turkeys, pigs, and goats. It is our considered hope that you will help us to obtain land for this expansion in communal food production.
